Boiler Plate Forming

The top photos show shoulder patches being formed on a Standard 4 tank locomotive boiler. This is an original repair method favoured by Crewe and Derby, and the Severn Valley Railway has practiced this repair method for nearly 30 years. It is a cost effective, reliable and proven repair procedure dating back from the middle of the 19th century.

The lower two photographs show the forming and completed copper doorplate for Talyllyn Railway No2 'Dolgoch'.
