SVR Door lock overhaul service

After a great deal of research and ongoing training, the SVR Carriage Department has produced a standards document for door lock overhauls. Based on BR and Railtrack practices and using equipment from ex-BR works we have set up an overhaul standard comparable to BR at its best for nine varieties of double-action door locks. Even the most corroded and battered specimens are capable of reconditioning to near-new levels of performance.

Locks are examined for damage and wear to components and tested on calibrated devices to ensure spring strengths are at the recommended levels. New springs can be sourced and worn out parts reconditioned accordingly to BR engineering document guidelines.

The following types of lock are currently in our portfolio:

• BR Mk1 outside actuation (ordinary passenger doors)
• BR Mk1 outside and inside actuation (non-corridor and DMU drivers doors)
• BR Mk1 outside and inside actuation inward opening door (Guards door)
• GWR double action with inside and outside actuation (wide bodies)
• GWR Churchward 1904 “snap-lock”. Churchward and Collett pre-1936 stock (slim body)
• GWR Collett 1936 “snap-lock”. Collett post-1936 and Hawksworth
• LMSR outside actuation
• LNER outside actuation (ordinary passenger doors)
• LNER outside and inside actuation (luggage and non-corridor doors)
• LNER Guards door lock (inward opening doors)

Please note: we do not operate an exchange system, the lock you send us is the one we repair and send back. The worse it is the longer it takes, and the more expensive it will be!
